Avril Lavigne, Brody Jenner Split: What Went Wrong?

Complicated, indeed.

On Monday, Us Weekly broke the news that Avril Lavigne and Brody Jenner split last week after nearly two years together.

"It was mutual, but Brody really broke up with her," a pal explains to Us Weekly of the breakup. Jenner "started" the conversation as they were discussing singer Lavigne's upcoming tour dates in Asia. "He told her he was tired of always being her plus-one, and always going on tour with her."

Former Hills star Jenner, 26, "said he needs a career of his own again, and he didn't want to go on the tour. Avril didn't like that."

Although once-divorced Lavigne, 25, loved her man's constant companionship, "she also lost respect for him because he hasn't done anything," the source explains. "Brody said, 'I need to stay in L.A. and get back into TV, either scripted or reality. But I feel like a loser.'"

Adds the insider: "They still love each other and could get back together, but for now, he needed a break."

A man needs to have a job. He needs to work. I get what Avril means. You can't respect someone who refuses to work and do something for himself. And he was probably tired of being her plus 1...so get a job already.

Duh, like this is a shocker. I'm surprised that it lasted this long. Of course he is going to run back to "reality" tv, that's all his family knows. He is right, he is a loser. I'm glad that he can admit that, it takes a strong man to do that.
