This Olympian didn’t need cupid’s arrow to propose to his girlfriend!
Olympic archer Brady Ellison scored his greatest target yet when he proposed to girlfriend Toja Cerne on January 31.
Together since August 2014, Ellison and Cerne were in Las Vegas for the Vegas Shoot when he popped the question.
“After an extremely successful weekend in Vegas, when Brady won the Vegas Shoot and Indoor World Cup final, he took me to High Roller in Vegas, and right when we hit, or almost hit, the top of it, he said, ‘We are on the top of Las Vegas, will you marry me?’ And he was holding the most perfect ring for me,” the bride-to-be exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Of course I said yes! Also, just the night before, I dreamed he asked me to marry him, so it was the dream come true for me.”
“She was completely surprised,” Ellison adds. “Her eyes got all big and she didn’t say anything — then just started crying.”
The silver medalist proposed with a halo-style ring from Halzberg Diamonds that blew his fiancée away.
“It is absolutely perfect, and he did an awesome job with it,” Cerne — a Slovenian archer — gushed. “I think I helped him a little bit, but he chose the one on his own, and then he acted like he was in the process of buying it, even though he already had it.”
The archery power couple — who both took home gold medals at an Indoor World Cup competition in Bangkok in December — will wait until after the Summer Olympics to wed, but could start planning soon.
“Wedding planning will begin whenever she wants it to,” Brady says.
