At 19, Bristol Palin admits it's tough raising 1-year-old son Tripp on her own.
"The lack of sleep definitely surprised me," she said on The Oprah Winfrey Show Friday. "A typical day starts at 4, 4:30 [a.m.]."
Bristol – who is demanding $1,750 a month in child support from ex Levi Johnston, according to new court documents – said she even cried once as she tried to rock her screaming baby to sleep.
"I have this big supportive family and stuff, but I just felt so alone," she said. "[It] felt just like a breaking point where reality sunk in that, yeah, I have a kid. This is my life. This is my full-time job now."
Though she wishes she was at college with her friends, "I have a beautiful baby boy, and he's awesome," said Bristol, who is seeking sole custody of Tripp.
She said she hopes other young girls will learn from her story and wait to have sex until marriage.
She told Winfrey that she will not have sex again until she weds.
"I just think it's a goal to have, and I think other young women should have that goal," she said.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who appeared alongside Bristol via satellite, said she wishes she "had had more candid talks about having unprotected sex, about having sex before marriage."
But she added that is proud of her daughter.
"She's handled this so well," she told Winfrey. "She's very strong, quite independent. And she has taken full responsibility for her actions. She's raising Tripp just splendidly, and we couldn't be prouder."
