Yikes. Britney Spears’ ex-husband Jason Alexander, who she was famously married to for only 55 hours in 2004, spent almost four months in jail on domestic abuse charges in 2015.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Alexander allegedly physically assaulted a woman he was dating in San Francisco on April 29, 2015, causing “great bodily injury.”
Alexander, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of a felony assault and served 111 days in a San Francisco jail. The victim also secured a restraining order against Spears’ ex.
After being released from jail, Alexander was ordered to serve three years’ probation, complete 25 hours of community service and take domestic violence counseling and enter drug and alcohol treatment programs.
Alexander and Spears — who were childhood friends — famously said “I do” on a whim at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas in January 2004. Their marriage was annulled less than three days later.
During an interview with ABC News in 2012, Alexander explained that Spears invited him to Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve. “She just came out and asked me,” Alexander recalled of their spur-of-the-moment decision. “She was like, ‘Well, let’s get married.’ And I was like, ‘Sure. You know, let’s do this.'”
According to Alexander, the then-couple had been drinking and had “A to Z” kinds of “party favors.” When asked if he meant drugs, Alexander replied: “Alcohol is a drug. Coffee is a drug. Cigarette is a drug. Yeah, we were doing drugs.”
Alexander has not responded to a request for comment.
