A Los Angeles judge granted Britney Spears' fiance, Jason Trawick, to become a co-conservator over the singer Wednesday.

According to The Associated Press, Trawick will join Spears' father, Jamie Spears, in helping to manage Britney's personal affairs, excluding her assets.

Superior Court Judge Reve Goetz granted the approval after Spears requested her future husband join her court conservatorship shortly after their engagement in December 2011.

Spears, 30, has been under a court-ordered conservatorship since February 2008. Her father took control of her personal affairs after the Grammy-winning singer was hospitalized twice after suffering a psychological breakdown.

Geraldine Wyle, an attorney for Jaime, told reporters following the hearing that her client was "thrilled" to have Trawick as a co-conservator.

Trawick has previously acted as Spears' agent and did attend the hearing Wednesday.
