Brittany Murphy’s former Los Angeles home, where both she and her husband Simon Monjack died, is back on the market.
The modern Hollywood Hills digs were relisted for $18.4 million, a $1 million drop from the original asking price, according to TMZ. The five bedroom, six bathroom property was recently completely renovated and features a home theater, massage room, wine cellar, infinity pool and elevator.
The Clueless actress and the British screenwriter were both mysteriously found dead in the house within five months of each other. Murphy died in December 2009 at age 32, and her death was ruled accidental due to a combination of multiple-drug intoxication (from legal prescriptions and over-the-counter meds), pneumonia and anemia. Monjack’s death in May 2010 was also attributed to pneumonia and anemia.
In November 2013, a private lab test commissioned by her father, Angelo Bertolotti, found heavy metals, which are found in rat poison, in Murphy’s hair strands. Bertolotti speculated that his daughter may have been poisoned, but the medical examiner’s office dismissed this rumor, stating that these heavy metals are found in hair dye.
Murphy’s mother, Sharon, who also lived in the home with her daughter and Monjack, claimed that toxic mold in the home might have killed them. The coroner also denied this theory and said the autopsies showed mold was not a factor.
Murphy was not the only celebrity to inhabit the home — it was previously owned by Britney Spears in the early 2000s before it was sold to Sharon in 2003 for $3.85 million. The elder Murphy put the house on the market multiple times, but was unable to find a buyer until 2011.
