Are Charlize Theron and Sean Penn engaged? Rumors are swirling that the couple of seven months have taken the next step in their relationship.

As Us Weekly exclusively reported, the couple are ready to tie the knot in Theron's native South Africa this summer—and adopt! "They want to get married very soon," according to an insider."[They] always intended to have another child." (Penn has grown close to Theron's adopted son Jackson, 2.)

Fueling the speculation further, the Max Mad Fury: Road actress, 38, stepped out wearing a gorgeous new rock on her left hand at the Los Angeles International Airport on July 23. A source tells Us that the jewelry isn't an engagement ring. As previously reported, however, a Penn confidant told Us "they absolutely want to get married."

Theron and Penn, 53, were first spotted together taking their 18-year friendship to the next level during a Hawaiian vacation in January. They made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in NYC in May.

"It just kind of naturally happened, and before I knew it, I was in something that was making my life better—the people who really love me can see the effect it has had on me," Theron recently said of the relationship to Vogue. She added to Esquire U.K. last month: "It was nice to be single and now it's nice to be not single."

This would be the first marriage for Theron and the third for Penn. Theron split from actor Stuart Townsend in 2010 after more than a decade of dating. Penn was famously married to Madonna in the '80s and shares daughter Dylan, 23, and son Hopper, 20, with ex-wife Robin Wright.

Reps for both Theron and Penn had no comment.
