Chris Brown Wins Child Custody Battle, Gets Joint Custody of Daughter Royalty

Chris Brown was awarded joint custody of his daughter Royalty

The courts actually ruled in favor of Chris Brown for once on Friday, Sept. 11. A judge in Houston granted the “Loyal” singer joint custody of his daughter, Royalty, with former fling Nia Guzman. Guzman, who lived in Houston when she filed, had attempted to deny Brown any custodial rights and also argued for supervised visitation.

However, the judge granted Brown joint custody under the agreement that Royalty will be with her mother every four days. The judge also ordered Brown to continue to pay Guzman $2,500 a month in child support — another win as Guzman was arguing for a whopping $15,000 a month.

The news comes after Brown filed documents in July to establish paternity of his little girl, whom he learned in March he had fathered, months after her birth. Rihanna’s ex-boyfriend filed the documents to support his claims in court Friday after Brown claimed that Guzman was denying him legal rights to see Royalty.

“A lot has changed in my life, a lot of mistakes, a lot of lessons learned. The best thing, I’m most thankful for is my daughter,” Brown gushed at the 2015 BET Awards in June. “At the end of the day, love is love.”
