After 18 years of marriage, Chris Rock and his wife Malaak Compton-Rock have decided to divorce. The couple married in November 1996 and share daughters Lola, 12, and Zahra, 10.
"Chris Rock has filed for divorce from his wife, Malaak," Rock's rep tells Us. "This is a personal matter and Chris requests privacy as he and Malaak work through this process and focus on their family."
In 2006 the New York Daily News reported that Rock, 49, had filed for divorce, but weeks later the site reported that the couple had worked out their differences. Rock released a statement at the time calling the reports "untrue rumors and lies."
Compton-Rock, 45, is the founder of the nonprofit styleWORKS, a salon that provides free services to women entering the workforce after leaving welfare.
The comedian's new film Top Five has brought in $19.2 million domestically since its Dec. 12 release.
"Yes, I'm married and bored out of my f--king mind," Rock said during a stand-up routine in 2010. "But it's a beautiful thing. You can be married and bored or single and lonely."
