It's a struggle every day. Danny Pintauro — who revealed he's been HIV positive for the past 12 years — opened up about his health once again during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight.
"It's like with anybody hearing that they've got some sort of terminal cancer or something awful," the Who's the Boss? star, 39, told ET on Monday, Sept. 28, of what he felt when he was diagnosed. "My life is forever changed."
The former child star first spoke about his diagnosis during Oprah Winfrey's Where Are They Now? special on OWN. Pintauro — who married his partner, Will Tabares, in April 2014 — said that he wasn't ready for a long time to reveal the truth, but he did confide in his Who's the Boss? TV mom Judith Light early on.
"I told Judith many years ago. I tell anyone who asks," he told ET. "To me, it surprises me that it hasn't come out yet."
As previously reported, Light opened up about Pintauro's story during an appearance on Good Day New York on Monday. "He’s kept me informed all the way along, and when he was talking about coming out, because he was going to be outed," the Transparent actress, 66, said. "The world is different, and it’s better, but we still need to have a more understanding and a more responsible and a more responsive and a kinder society."
Pintauro explained to ET that drugs and unprotected sex led to him contracting the disease. His former Who's the Boss? costar Tony Danza has also supported him through the years, but wasn't too keen on one detail.
"Tony was great," Pintauro said. "But I can tell he was a little disappointed for the drugs part more than anything."
