Will one of his dogs be the ring bearer? Cesar Millan is engaged to his girlfriend, Jahira Dar, the Dog Whisperer star confirms to Us Weekly.
The TV personality, 46, popped the question last month during a romantic getaway in Greece. A source tells Us that the couple were initially supposed to go to Spain, but Millan switched the plane tickets to surprise his longtime love. He got down on bended knee at Orizontes Restaurant, which overlooks the Acropolis of Athens.
“I wanted the proposal to be special and to surprise her, so I spent months planning our trip to Greece — I am still proud of myself that I never gave it away!” Millan tells Us. A violinist was also on hand for the special moment.
Millan and the L.A.-based stylist began dating in August 2010. Since then, Dar has appeared on several of Millan’s shows, including Cesar Millan: The Real Story.
“Jahira came into my life at just the right time. She was instrumental in helping me rebuild my life and my family after my divorce and break from The Dog Whisperer television show,” Millan adds to Us. “She is compassionate, gentle, instinctual, spiritual, intelligent, fun, strong, adventurous and loving. She embodies the principles that I prize the most — honesty, integrity and loyalty. On top of all of that, she loves dogs and Mother Nature just as much as I do. After six amazing years together, I am so happy I asked her to be my wife. Thankfully, she said yes! My pack is complete!”
On Monday, Millan posted a photo of himself with his future bride. “I’m so happy!!! She said yes!!!” he captioned the photo on Instagram. “I always knew that I wanted someone to share my life with who was sweet, adventurous, honest, and loving, but I got more than that! She is beautiful inside and out, extremely supportive of my entire family and me… AND SHE LOVES DOGS!”
Millan was previously married to Ilusion Millan from 1994 to 2010. The exes share sons André, 21, and Calvin, 17.
