UPDATE 11:45 a.m. EST: Grammy-nominated artists immediately took to social media to express their surprise and excitement over the news. “Oh my god. MOM IM GOING TO THE GRAMMYS,” Kelsea Ballerini, who is nominated for best new artist, tweeted. Demi Lovato couldn’t believe her album Confident was nominated for best pop vocal album, writing, “Woke up to the most amazing news EVER!!!!!!! Wow… thank you SO MUCH to @RecordingAcad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

The 2017 Grammy Awards nominations were announced on Tuesday, December 6. Beyoncé leads the field with nine nods while Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West each earned eight nominations.

Meghan Trainor kicked off this year’s announcement by revealing the four nominees in four of the most prestigious categories: record of the year, album of the year, song of the year and best new artist.
