After saying "I do" in England earlier this month, newlyweds Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell returned to her native New York to celebrate their nuptials in style with close friends.

At the hip downtown NYC Bowery Hotel on Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCartney, both clad in chic blue ensembles, joined Yoko Ono and her son Sean Ono Lennon, Shevell's cousin Barbara Walters, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actress Aida Turturro, singer-wongwriter James Taylor and his wife Caroline Smedvig, Jon Bon Jovi and Ralph Lauren, among others, for their celebratory fete.

The celeb-packed group gathered in one of the hotel's private upstairs rooms, where they dined on an all-vegetarian feast over a candlelit dinner.

While the champagne kept flowing, the glowing lovebirds danced all night with their close friends to Motown music.

"Wow. Wow. Wow. That was amazing!" Turturro gushed to Us Weekly as she left the hotel around 1 a.m. "The best part of the party was the dancing. But it was all amazing!"

"It was just incredible," Smedvig added.

When McCartney, 69, and Shevell, 51, left the venue at 1:30 a.m., they were greeted outside by a large crowd of well-wishers.

"Nancy had this stunned wide-eye look of "Wow!" that was so similar to how Kate Middleton seemed when she first walked onto the balcony at Buckingham Palace," an insider tells Us. "Nancy looked so overjoyed (and sort of happily overwhelmed) by the outpouring of joy for them. They held hands and took photos as made their way to the car."

Shevell is a member of the board of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority. She and the Beatles superstar tied the knot in front of 30 family members and friends in an intimate ceremony at the Marylebone registry office on October 9.
