Her legacy will live on. Jackie Collins died of breast cancer on Saturday, Sept. 19, but her spirit and personality won’t soon be forgotten, judging by the outpouring of tributes and memories from her many Hollywood pals.
Shortly after news broke of Collins’ death at age 77 Saturday night, Kris Jenner posted a touching remembrance of her friend, alongside a photo of Collins and her sister, Dynasty legend Joan Collins.
“I’m so sad to hear about the passing of Jackie Collins…my love and prayers go out to her family and friends and to her sister Joan,” Jenner wrote. “What an amazing woman… It was a joy and honor to have known her.”
Jenner, 59, wasn’t the only celebrity to look back at their time knowing Collins.
Kathy Griffin, who was a close friend of the prolific author, tweeted that Collins was “brilliant, fearless, beautiful, funny, naughty, LOYAL, brave… I’m crushed.” In a sit-down segment with Us Weekly earlier this year, Collins called the comedian a “good friend of mine” and joked about their time together over the holidays.
“We were in Hawaii together at Christmas, and Kathy comes walking down the beach one day in her bikini, and she says, 'You've gotta take pictures of me in my bikini. I don't like the pictures that appeared in the magazines,’” Collins told Us at the time. “So every day she would come down in a new bikini and I would have to take pictures of her."
Melissa Gilbert, who starred in Hollywood Wives: The New Generation — based on one of Collins’ novels — also weighed in on her “amazing” friend.
“Talented. Funny. Kind. One of my very favorite producers ever. She will be deeply missed,” the actress tweeted.
“#RIP Jackie Collins. I always loved our interviews,” Oprah Winfrey added.
Fellow Brit Sharon Osbourne wrote, “Shocked & devastated at the death of @JackiejCollins. Loved & respected her. Thoughts & prayers go out to her family.”
Former Millionaire Matchmaker host Patti Stanger tweeted, “Gone way too soon @jackiejcollins I remember how sweet u were to me when we met! #god wanted another #Angel #RIP.”
Hollywood legend Larry King chimed in as well.
“I’m shocked & saddened by Jackie Collins’ passing,” the CNN news anchor wrote. “She was a true talent, a beautiful being & a dear friend.”
Collins is survived by her three daughters, Tracy, 54, Tiffany, 48, and Rory, 46.
