Back on? Katy Perry and John Mayer reunited over the weekend and were spotting dining together in Beverly Hills, after calling it quits on their two-year-long relationship this past February. A source tells Us Weekly the exes have indeed “reconnected.”

“Things just needed to cool down. They aren’t officially back on but talking again,” the insider tells Us of the couple, who were on and off throughout their relationship.

As for what happened to Diplo, Perry’s most recent beau, the insider tells Us that it was never that serious to begin with. “It was only ever a hookup thing with Diplo and never serious. Katy was so busy touring all last year that she couldn’t be with anyone seriously. The pace of the tour was excruciatingly hard to get through. She had no downtime,” the source says of the DJ and “Dark Horse” singer, who were last spotted together celebrating Perry’s 30th birthday in Morocco in October.

Perry’s massive tour was also a point of contention for her and Mayer, 37. At the time of their split, another source told Us: "She's stressed about the tour, they've been fighting. It is probably for the best [they split], because she is going to be on tour for forever.”

Following the duo’s dinner date, Mayer then reportedly headed back to Perry’s L.A. pad.

Russell Brand’s ex-wife was vocal about needing time to herself after splitting from both the actor and Mayer. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar this past October, Perry admitted she needed to be alone and “learn about taking care” of herself.

Prior to dating Perry, Mayer was linked to Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jennifer Aniston, and Minka Kelly among others.
