Katy Perry Offers to Write Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Song, Politician Responds With “Roar”

Katy Perry has friends in very high places. The pop star, 29, rubbed shoulders with former First Lady and rumored presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton this weekend, supporting the politician at an event promoting the release of Clinton's new memoir, Hard Choices

Perry shared a photo via Instagram of herself posing with the former Secretary of State, 66. The image shows the singer in a green plaid dress, holding a copy of Hard Choices, while standing close to a well-coiffed Clinton.

"I told @hillaryclinton that I would write her a 'theme' song if she needs it…" Perry captioned the image.

Clinton responded to Perry's offer via Twitter on Sunday, June 22, working in a reference to the title of her book and hinting at her pick from Perry's discography.

"Well that’s not a Hard Choice," Clinton wrote in a pun-tastic tweet. "You already did! Keep letting us hear you Roar."

As she would famously be gunning for the honor of the first female President of the United States if she chooses to run, Clinton may have found a fitting tribute in "Roar." The chart-topping single, which has become an anthem for those fighting all sorts of battles, includes the lyrics, "I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath / Scared to rock the boat and make a mess / So I sat quietly, agreed politely / I guess that I forgot I had a choice / I let you push me past the breaking point / I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything… I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire / 'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar / Louder, louder than a lion / 'Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar."

This is hardly the first time that Perry has lent her voice to political causes. The daughter of conservative parents, Perry performed at President Obama's second inauguration in 2013, and campaigned for the current POTUS when he ran for a second term.
