Sometimes family does know best. Kim Richards, who was arrested on Sunday, Aug. 2, for allegedly shoplifting from a Target in L.A’s San Fernando Valley, has been admitted to a hospital by concerned family members, multiple sources tell Us Weekly exclusively.
The troubled reality star, who checked out of rehab in July after one month, has reportedly fallen back into old habits, according to one insider.
Richards, 50, was accused of stealing more than 100 items from the retailer, totaling about $612, according to the Los Angeles City Attorney. Though she spent the night in jail on Sunday, she was released the next day on $5,000 bail.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum pleaded not guilty and is due in court on Aug. 20. Richards was previously arrested for public intoxication, battery, and resisting arrest after getting into a drunken confrontation with police at the Beverly Hills Hotel in April.
Last month, the former child actress told Entertainment Tonight that she was ready to get back on track after checking into multiple rehab facilities.
“I love sobriety,” she said in the July 22 interview. “I’ve always loved sobriety, and relapsing was very hard for me. It was not easy. I have to say, don’t take this wrong, but I really wanted to go to treatment because I needed a break from what I was going through at home.”
At the time of the interview, Richards’ ex-husband Monty was terminally ill and living with her, and her son Chad “wasn’t well” either, she told the talk show hosts.
“Her family checked her in,” the source told Us Weekly of Richards’ latest hospitalization. “She wants to get out ASAP, but her family refuses.”
Multiple requests for comment have not been returned by Kim or sister Kyle Richards' rep.
