Lady Gaga has been a major advocate for anti-bullying campaigns and LGBT rights.

But on Twitter Tuesday, the superstar found herself under fire after sending out a tweet to her 22.6 million followers that could be taken as a pro-anorexic statement.

"Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay," the 26-year-old "Born This Way" singer posted.

Immediately the backlash started rolling in from the Twitter community, accusing the pop star of supporting eating disorders.

"Seriously what is Lady Gaga playing at? In her last tweet she put #PopSingersDontEat. Great role model she is.." one Tweeter posted.

Added another Tweeter: "@ladygaga I'm stunned that you would promote such an unhealthy attitude towards food to your fans when you claim to be so righteous."

As of Thursday afternoon, Mother Monster was keeping mum about the backlash she caused in 140 characters or less
