Weekday nights are all right for fighting -- if you're Lindsay Lohan.

The Liz & Dick star, 26, was arrested and charged with assaulting a fellow clubgoer while out at NYC hotspot Avenue early Thursday morning. (Lohan, who was seated at a table right underneath the venue's VIP area, reportedly exchanged words with the wife of the club owner's business associate before punching her in the face.)

Throughout the evening, "Lindsay was drinking a ton, not trying to hide it," an eyewitness tells Us Weekly. "She was drinking Grey Goose and also champagne. The vodka bottle was right in front of her."

Explains the witness, "At one point, Lindsay moved up to VIP and was trying to get the woman to move her coat and purse in order to make room for her, but the woman was ignoring Lindsay. Lindsay started yelling at her and the woman told her to stop. Lindsay eventually huffed back to her table, furious."

When a separate altercation broke out between two club promoters standing nearby, Lohan used that brouhaha as an excuse to vent her own anger.

"Lindsay was standing on the couch at her table, which put her even with the woman seated in VIP above her. She turned around and clocked her in the face," the witness reveals.

Meanwhile, Lohan's already-impressive rap sheet continues to grow. The troubled star was also charged with three crimes in Santa Monica, Calif., all stemming from her June car accident on the Pacific Coast Highway. (Following the crash, she lied to emergency responders and told them she hadn't been driving.)

The actress was charged with obstructing an officer, providing false information and reckless driving.
