It’s a tough time for Yolanda Foster, who announced on Dec. 1 that she and her husband, David Foster, were divorcing after four years of marriage. Since then, her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Lisa Vanderpump has spoken about the painful split.

“I don’t know,” Vanderpump, 55, told reporters at the TrevorLIVE Los Angeles event on Sunday, Dec. 6, when asked how her friend was doing. “I saw her last night. I have reached out to her before, and I — I just feel very sad about that. So I just feel very sad about that because I didn’t expect it, and I always thought she always had this unbelievable marriage, so I’m sad about that. Very sad about it.”

Vanderpump, who has been married to former British soccer star Ken Todd for more than three decades, admitted she was surprised by her costars’ split.

“I didn’t see it coming, and I hate that,” she said. “Having been married for 33 years, I hate to see that.”

And though Vanderpump is definitely supporting Foster, 51, in her emotional divorce, she did stir up some drama in the Season 6 premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which aired the same day the divorce news hit.

“I don’t quite understand what’s wrong with her,” Vanderpump said of her costar’s illness during the episode. “I don’t know if it is Lyme disease, but I’m not criticizing her. I’m just questioning it.”

Foster responded to those comments in a blog post after the episode aired, writing, “I could look at tonight’s episode with mixed emotions, but I’ve grown apart from looking at what’s NOT. I am blessed to have a voice and a platform that can bring awareness to not only my disease but to the most profound lesson of it all, which is to lead a life with compassion, kindness, and without judgement, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
