Pleading her custody case! Madonna is making small but substantial strides in her ongoing battle to bring her 15-year-old son, Rocco Ritchie, home.

“Madonna and Rocco have been talking,” a source close to the Grammy winner, 57, reveals exclusively in the latest issue of Us Weekly. “They are trying to mediate themselves.”

The “Living for Love” singer has longed for the return of her eldest son since early December, when he left her Rebel Heart tour to live with dad Guy Ritchie in London. Though a custody hearing is scheduled for March 2 in NYC, the source says Madonna “is trying to win him back” before then. (The hearing, originally scheduled for February 3, was postponed.)

“Rocco has been the one reaching out to Madonna,” the source tells Us. “She and Guy are not on speaking terms.”

But before Rocco makes any moves, he wants to see change. “Guy is very relaxed, while Madonna is strict and regimented,” explains the source of Rocco’s gripes. “She is saying things will be different.”

For now, the music superstar ― who also has Lourdes, 19, and David and Mercy, both 10 ― is keeping the faith. On February 22, she posted a snapshot of her estranged son on Instagram.

“I miss this boy,” she captioned the photo. “I hope we see that Leo Sun soon!”
