Speaking to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush in Des Moines, Iowa, Thursday, the 48-year-old First Lady said her daughters Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, aren't allowed to pig out in the White House kitchen.

"They can't pick up the phone and order anything. They're kids," Michelle explained. "That's the point that I make to them: You live in the White House, but you're a child."

I am in agreement w/Andrea Lewis & The Hortons. I feel for those kids; she controls their time on PC & monitors food intake on one hand/on the other, she invites the Jonas Brothers 2 visit them at WH, takes them on exclusive shopping sprees in Paris, accompanied no less, by Pres. of France! She also gives the most lavish parties of any 1st Lady. To those of U, who think we who oppose Let's Move are stupid & cruel, think again. Living in a Democracy should mean making your own decisions about health, excercise & dieting (incl. your dr. or whomever u wish to consult). Nobody is saying it's wrong to be on diet or exercise regime, those opposed do not want govt. intervention in this. To those who think we are stupid & paranoid, you better start giving me throught to how much you want your govt to control you before you are asked to present a special liscense next time you go to grocers or even to eat out! She already has influence at Olive Garden. What next? I can imagine how tasteless those Olive Garden dishes are!

Michelle Obama just speaks of motherhood. I love her willingness to discuss family. I would love to see her more involved with woman's issues.

those of you making this about how her husband deals with the way he runs the country are up there with the birthers. she's making sure her daughters eat right so they don't get obese or develop diseases associated with being overweight (diabetes for one), a decision that is very smart on her part. Stop being trolls and go back under the bridges you came from -__-

According to the Center for Disease Control, in 2008, more than one third of children and adolescents were overweight or obese. I hope through the First Lady's efforts, some dent can be made in these high numbers. Otherwise, continuing to insure the medical expenses of those who are grossly overweight will be at a great cost to us all.

She didnt mean they were dieting she meant she supervises their food choices which is what a Mother is supposed to do -- what a bunch of stupid people.

  • February 10, 2012 - 1:31pm Kathryn Wishon

I think that she is out of control. She thinks that she knows everything about food , been a severiceman wife. She needs to look in thee mirror check it out.

They did not include the whole interview. What she actually said was that she doesn't let them eat cookies, ice cream and other unhealthy snacks at home- but fruits and vegetables are allowed any time of day. And when they're out with friends they eat pizza and ice cream- no problem. It's about moderation and making healthy eating the majority of one's diet.

Her and her sutpid husband are both controlling. He doesn't even believe in the constitution. They both want to control this country like dictators. Anyone who votes for him this year...the death and demise of our country will be on your shoulders. America will neve r be the same and all the men and women who have shed their blood for our freedom will have been spat upon. These are the biggest f-in losers on the face of the planet and we are no longer respected. WE are a laughing stock of every other country.

i think what michelle is doing is great.except for the part of her kids being on a diet.

  • February 10, 2012 - 12:10pm Darren N Kim Horton

Michelle- you're are a big stupid b!tch who wants to run our country into the ground. If youwant your kids on this "diet" that's good on you but don't force the rest of the country too. This isn't communnist f-in China.

This kind of upbringing is soooo oldfashioned, kids cannot pig out if the wrong foods are not in the house to begin with...I would not want to be under those strict rules and regulations where a child cannot go into the refrigerator without permission, that is so damn controlling...healthy foods should be placed in the refrigerator so that kids have access to eating at least when hungry!! So if the parents are not around the child cannot eat unless someone in authority is there to allow them to eat..that is sheer control, backward and old fashioned, those children are grown smart children not babies give me a break !!

First you have to make the streets safe for children to walk and then kids will get out more. When I was a child we were out the whole day and only came in for meals. Let bring America back where kids can go out and play safe.
