Mighty Ducks Star Shaun Weiss, Who Played Goalie Goldberg, Enlists Kickstarter to Revive Showbiz Career

Former Mighty Ducks star Shaun Weiss, who played Greg "Goldie" Goldberg in the classic '90s film trilogy, hopes to revive his career with the help of kickstarter

Goldberg is trading in his hockey stick for a microphone. Like stars Kristen Bell and Zach Braff before him, Shaun Weiss is trying to use Kickstarter to his advantage. The former Mighty Ducks star—who played lovable and not very athletic Greg "Goldie" Goldberg in the classic '90s film trilogy—is hoping to revive his career with the funding platform. What would he do with the money? He would star in his own stand-up comedy national tour—despite having no prior stand-up experience.

Weiss, 35, tried out his comedic chops in a 3-minute clip while trying to convince viewers to fund his project, which will also be filmed for his documentary Back on the Map. He said if given the opportunity he would "meet up with some of his life long fans" along the way. If all goes well, he hopes to develop a Netflix series about his experience.

"I'm offering some insane kind of rewards. Basically if you invest, your reward is me," he insisted. "I will come to your house and you can shoot pucks at me," he joked, giving a nod to his Goldberg days.

Weiss is also known for starring in Ben Stiller's 1995 comedy Heavy Weights, and appearance on TV's Boy Meets World, Freaks and Geeks and City Guys. His last notable acting credit was an episode of Las Vegas in 2005.
