Oopsies. Sunday's live broadcast of the Miss America pageant on ABC didn't exactly go without a hitch. Before Miss New York Kira Kazantsev grabbed the coveted crown, Miss Nebraska Megan Swanson briefly stole the spotlight, capturing the attention of particularly observant viewers at the very beginning of the evening wear segment.
As co-host Chris Harrison began explaining the judges' criteria for the competition, he ambled past an onstage couch where several of the contestants were sitting. It was at this moment that Swanson, in a knit crochet top and black skirt, was seen leaning over to chat with another contestant. With her legs unfortunately uncrossed, the beauty queen accidentally flashed her pink underwear on live TV.
In the end, 22-year-old Kazantsev became the third consecutive Miss New York to walk away with it all, snagging a $50,000 scholarship thanks to an impressive plastic red cup-assisted performance of Pharrell William's "Happy" and a poised Q&A answer regarding sexual assault in the military.
