Mo'Nique Explains Why She Has an Open Marriage

Oscar nominee Mo'Nique had no qualms about being in an open marriage.
On Sunday's Oscar Night edition of The Barbara Walters Special, the Precious star, 42, says that while she has "not had sex" outside her marriage to husband (and business manager) Sid Hicks, he is free to do so.

"Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes. That's not a deal-breaker," she says. "That's not something that would make us say, 'Pack your things and let's end the marriage.'"
And she says she wouldn't call it quits even if he had numerous flings.

"What if it's 20 times?" she asks. "So what? We've been best friends for over 25 years, and we truly know who we are. Oftentimes, people get into marriages and they don't know who they're laying next to. I'm very comfortable and secure with my husband."
So how does she keep her husband's interest?
"He loves the hairy legs,” she says, adding that she never shaves. "And if Sid likes the hairy legs, there you go ... I'm 42 and very hairy."

The one time she shaved her legs, "it was so uncomfortable and painful," she recalls. "I said, 'Never again would I do that to myself.'"

I'm a little disappointed...how can you claim to be a Christian and what that means to you and say you have an open marriage? I don't want to judge but as a woman it just doesn't sit right with me to hear that it is ok that your husband has sex with other people. No way can you truly love someone with that going on. Open relationships are not the way to go in 2010. Researchers still have not found a cure for AIDS and there are other STD's to worry about. Some men may start out using condoms, but stop when they get comfortable with the other women. I don't want to take that chance in my marriage. Woman have to realize that marriages benefit men much more than women, so men don't deserve any extra perks.
I'm a black woman and have NEVER shaved my legs because I don't have any hair there or on my arms. I had a white friend of mine take a magnifying glass and look at my arms and legs and I think she said she saw maybe a couple of hairs on my arms and none on my legs, then she proceeded to tell me how she was jealous cause she has to shave all the time. As for Mo'Nique's open marriage, it's not for me, but hey if it works for her, then why do so many OTHER people have a problem with it?
The biggest thing that hurts people with cheating is the very nature of it... the deception. I have talked to many who are in open relationships and find that the ONE thing that they do not have to worry about is being lied to. You can even cheat when you are in an open relationship. Dishonesty is a very ugly thing. I am not saying that an open marriage is right or wrong, but you will be surprised at the peace you can have when you feel you can simply trust someone. Again, Mo'nique says that they have been best friends for over 25yrs. I doubt that there is a lot that they don't know about one another. They have trust and peace... something many of you who have posted comments DO NOT HAVE! Don't judge them... let God do that. Nonetheless, I do understand.

I am 20 year christian young woman and i would never agree with an open marriage. Thats like giving your husband permission to cheat on you. This shows that some where deep inside that you are inscure about yourself and that you think that he'll leave you if you don't oblige. Please know your worth.
