Good photo op? Paris Hilton and boyfriend River Viiperi tried to make the best of a very bad situation on Feb. 18 after Viiperi suffered a grisly ski injury. The couple, who were on vacation celebrating Hilton’s 32nd birthday in Lake Tahoe, documented the accident and trip to the hospital in photos on Twitter.

“Just got out of the hospital with River Viiperi,” Hilton tweeted Feb. 18. “He was doing a high jump while skiing and the ski sliced in to his leg! 19 stitches! Oww!” The Simple Life star shared a photo of her Spanish model boyfriend, 21, laying in a stretcher in the snow attached to a cart to take him to a hospital. Hilton is sitting on the cart in front of him giving a red-carpet-ready, pouty face to the camera.

“Such a scary day on the slopes today,” she wrote on her Pheed. “After seeing the gash on River Viiperi’s leg, I almost passed out. I have never seen a cut that deep in my life. He is so brave, I can’t even imagine the pain he went through today.”

Viiperi also shared a gruesome, bloody photo of his leg, after warning his followers, “NOT for weak stomaches!! A little something of what happened to me today while skiing. 19 stitches.”

“A ski went into River’s leg when he fell,” a source close to the couple told Us Weekly. “He got up and kept skiing, but then felt that his whole leg was wet. You could almost see the bone.”

Viiperi was very grateful for Hilton’s support throughout the scary ordeal. The patient shared a photo of Hilton posing beside his hospital bed.

“Back in La La Land safe and sound thanks to my gorgeous blondie always taking such good care of me,” he tweeted. “Thank you for being there for me my Love, your the best girlfriend in the world! I’m so lucky to have you!”

Fortunately, Viiperi is recovering well. “He’ll have minimal scarring,” the source said. “He will be on crutches for two months because it’s in an awkward place in his knee.”
