Not so mutual after all? According to court documents it was Patrick Dempsey's wife Jillian Fink who initially wanted out of their 15-year marriage.
According to divorce papers, Fink was first to file for divorce from the Grey's Anatomy star. McDreamy’s now estranged wife filed for the dissolution of their marriage on Jan. 21. Citing irreconcilable differences, she is seeking spousal support, joint custody of their three kids — Tallulah Fyfe, 12, Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen, 7 — and is requesting that Dempsey pay her attorney fees. (Fink is being represented by celebrity divorce guru Laura Wasser.)
As previously reported, Dempsey, 49, and Fink did not have a prenup. Fink is also requesting items listed under separate property including miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects, earnings and accumulations of Dempsey’s from and after the date of separation, as well as additional separate property assets.
"It is with careful consideration and mutual respect that we have decided to end our marriage," the couple said in a joint statement to Us on Friday, Jan. 23. "Our primary concern remains the well being of our children, and we ask with profound gratitude that you respect our family's privacy at this very sensitive time."
Following the news, Dempsey was spotted still wearing his wedding ring on Sunday, Jan. 25, at the IMSA 24-hour auto race at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The soon-to-be exes were married in 1999.
