Hips don't lie, but according to Shakira's ex-boyfriend, the Latin American superstar did.

Antonio de la Rua, who dated the Colombian-born singer for 10 years (from 2000 to 2010), is suing his former love for $100 million over claims that she failed to uphold their business agreement and now owes him a significant share of "past and future partnership profits," according to papers filed in New York on Nov. 20.

The lawsuit — which follows a brief writ of summons filed by Shakira in late October claiming that de la Rua misappropriated funds during his tenure as her business manager — accuses the international star of breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty.

Per the papers, de la Rua began dating the singer soon after they met in Argentina 12 years ago; four years into the relationship, she asked him to take control of the "Shakira brand." He claims that she agreed to give him a share of the profits from her music and business ventures "in exchange for the contribution of his business and marketing skills, knowledge and expertise." (De la Rua previously managed his father Fernando's successful campaign to become president of Argentina.)

The partnership between Shakira and her then-boyfriend was never cemented in writing, but he says they had an "oral agreement" — and that he more than lived up to his end of the deal.

The suit describes how de la Rua elevated Shakira's "brand" to new heights by brokering multi-million-dollar deals and persuading her to record the smash hit "Hips Don't Lie."

"The combination of de la Rua's business and marketing talents with defendant's artistic talents, beauty and sex appeal succeeded in propelling the value of the partnership far beyond anything either had previously achieved or believed possible," the papers state.

In fact, when the couple broke up in 2010, Shakira asked her ex to stay by her side professionally. She even stressed on her website that they would "continue to be partners" in business. A year later, however, the "Whenever, Wherever" singer reportedly terminated de la Rua "as if he were a mere employee."

Shakira has since moved on from her ex both personally and professionally. She's currently expecting her first child with Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique, and she's set to replace Christina Aguilera as a mentor on the next season of The Voice, alongside Usher, who's filling in for Cee Lo Green.
