Singer Meat Loaf collapsed on stage during a concert in Edmonton, Canada, on Thursday, June 16.
The Grammy winner was performing at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium when he fell to the floor, as seen in videos posted by concertgoers on social media. Watch the video above to see the intense moment.
The 68-year-old was in the middle of singing his 1993 hit “I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That)” when he dropped his microphone and collapsed. He briefly continued singing before people rushed to the stage to help him, and the band stopped playing.
A black curtain was then drawn between the stage and the audience and the auditorium was evacuated, according to ABC News.
“He fell … he just fell,” concertgoer Jamie Carriere told CBC News. “You could hear the microphone just hit the ground. I thought it was a joke, I didn’t know what was going on because he was joking around throughout his set.”
An ambulance was called to the auditorium and the singer was transported to a local hospital. Alberta Health Services told Global News that the patient had “a fainting episode.”
Meat Loaf, who appeared on The Celebrity Apprentice in 2011, had canceled performances in Regina and Calgary earlier this week, citing ill health.
The “Bat Out of Hell” singer (real name: Marvin Lee Aday) collapsed on stage while performing in Pittsburgh in 2011 but later continued the concert, telling fans that he had suffered an asthma attack.
