Steve Harvey Is Hosting Miss Universe 2016 After Past Flub

He’s ready for a second chance! Steve Harvey will be returning to host Miss Universe 2016 after his major slipup at the 2015 pageant, when he announced the wrong winner.

The Family Feud host, 59, will emcee the show, which will take place in the Philippines, while Ashley Graham will serve as a backstage host.

In case you need a refresher: During the Miss Universe 2015 pageant, in Las Vegas, Harvey incorrectly announced that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez was the winner. She received the crown, sash and flowers and waved to the crowd before Harvey realized his error and interrupted the celebrations. “I have to apologize, the first runner-up is Colombia,” he said. “Let me just take control of this. This is exactly what’s on the card.”

The winner was actually Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach. “I will take responsibility for this. It was my mistake … horrible mistake,” he told the crowd.

The Steve Harvey Show host later revealed that he was inundated with death threats and horrible social media comments after the live flub. “It was four minutes of pure hell. … It was the most gut-wrenching walk I’ve ever had in my life,” he said of returning to the stage to admit his mistake.

Harvey will get a chance to correctly announce the winner when Miss Universe 2016 airs on Fox Sunday, January 29, at 7 p.m. ET.
