T.I. Backtracks, Says He Still Works With Iggy Azalea: She’s My “Little Sister”

T.I. and Iggy Azalea
T.I. says he's still working with Iggy Azalea, despite stating the opposite in a recent radio interview

Changing his tune. T.I. is backtracking recent radio comments he made about cutting ties with his protege, Iggy Azalea. The rapper told the Associated Press on Thursday, Sept. 17, that they are in fact still collaborating, despite his remarks to the contrary before.

"That's still my partner," T.I., 34, said. "Her life has taken her in a different direction. My life is still as it was before. But Iggy is doing what she feels makes Iggy happy. That's what she should do. We're focused on making the next Iggy record and dodging the same adversities we faced last time."

He continued: "It's definitely not a 'sever my ties, walk away, I'm upset' thing. It was more so like, 'Okay, you have a lot on your plate right now. I'm going to pull back or wait until you come to a place where you're ready to come back to the table, so we can start again and make history some more.'"

Just one day earlier, T.I. appeared to say that the longtime friends had gone their separate ways following Azalea's feud with Q-Tip. In December 2014, T.I. got involved when he called out Q-Tip for schooling Azalea, 25, on what hip-hop culture is.

Following the radio interview, Azalea – whom T.I. calls his "little sister" — tweeted that "Tip" would probably "clarify" what he meant. But according to T.I., the Australian rapper has yet to reach out to him personally about the matter.

"We speak to each other without having to speak to each other," he told the AP. "It's funny sometimes, but we're straight."
