New York state of mind! Kate Middleton donned an all-black ensemble (including a Goat coat) for a visit to the Northside Center for Child Development in NYC on Dec. 8.

All black—like a true New Yorker!

While her husband, Prince William, jetted to the nation’s capital to meet President Obama, Kate Middleton stayed behind in NYC on Monday, Dec. 8—but that didn’t mean she had any downtime!

On the contrary, the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge, 32, bundled up her baby bump in everything ebony—including the black military-style “Washington” coat by Goat, a piece that retails for 680 pounds or about $1,062—for a visit to Harlem’s Northside Center for Child Development. (She also added licorice heels and opaque tights to her ensemble.) See more photos of Kate’s gorgeous look.

Between engagements, the royal couple will spend what little downtime they have at the Carlyle Hotel, where Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana, loved to stay when she visited the States. When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the hotel on Dec. 7, they waved to the crowd gathered outside and told reporters, “It’s good to be here.”
