Loving her new look!
Kim Kardashian shocked the world when she revealed via Instagram on Friday, Feb. 6, that her long mane was long gone — replaced by an edgy shoulder-length bob. The style mogul’s social media followers waited in anticipation to see if it was a faux lob or simply a wig, as she’s been known to do. But Kardashian, 34, turned up on the red carpet at the 2015 Grammy Awards the next Sunday, in all of her short hair glory, confirming the crop’s authenticity.
So why, after all these years of having long, bountiful tresses, was it finally time to try something new? At the Kardashian Beauty Launch on Tuesday, Feb. 10, in New York City, Kardashian was happy to disclose the reason for the sudden change.
“I wish I did it sooner actually,” Kardashian told Us Weekly. “I didn’t know I would like it this much.”
The new ‘do premiered earlier than expected. “I was going to wait and cut if for fashion week in Paris, and then it was the Grammys, and I was just like ‘You know what, why not a fun, new look for the Grammys? she said. “I’ve had long hair my whole life.'”
Going so short was really a risk, because none of her usual hairstylists including Chris McMillan and Andy LeCompte were even available. Kardashian eventually turned to editorial hairstylist Gregory Russell to do the honors.
“My friend Joyce, who does our makeup, has great short hair,” Kardashian said. “She said that Gregory cut her hair once and did it really good, and he came over and we cut it.”
Kardashian said she loves her new look so much because it it grants her more freedom with her fashion choices. “It’s not really about the hairstyle as much as it is,” she admitted. “Now I can make it more about the outfit. Before I felt like I had a lot of hair, it’s just easier.”
Clearly, we all know her husband Kanye West is in love with the hairstyle from all the PDA shown on the red carpet at the Grammys, but what does little North think?
“I don’t know if she understood it; she was there when I was cutting it,” Kardashian said. “I walked out and I was like, ‘Mommy cut her hair! Do you like it?’ And she was just like, you know,” she added, with a smiling and shrug of the shoulders.
