Overpowered by the flower!
Katy Perry certainly made a statement on the red carpet at Friday's 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute at the L.A. Convention Center.
The newly single singer, 27, wore a giant headdress, a huge flower hat that obscured her face, for her big night out. The rest of Perry's look? An Alexis Mabille couture dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, jewelry by Carrera y Carrera and Norman Silverman, plus a Judith Leiber clutch.
"Tonight's [look] is Petal Power themed," she explained via Twitter.
At the gala -- honoring Paul McCartney -- Perry got some of the biggest cheers of the night performing "Hey Jude," compelling the crowd of 3,000 to sing along to the classic song.
"Thanks to Sir Paul McCartney for inviting me to give my spin on "Hey Jude" As Eddie Izzard said tonight, your songs are eternal!" she wrote.
Her soon-to-be-ex-husband Russell Brand, meanwhile, performed a standup comedy routine elsewhere in L.A. that night, which was filmed for his upcoming Showtime series.
The spouses of 14 months hammered out the details of their divorce (to be finalized this June); Brand won't seek any of his ex's massive fortune. Perry even signed the agreement with a smiley face!
