Pretty in pink! Kate Middleton‘s stylish sister, Pippa Middleton, went the classic route for the christening of 3-month-old baby Prince George on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The 30-year-old aunt, dressed in a seasonally-appropriate, cream-colored, wool trapeze coat as she entered St. James’s Palace, chose a lace “warm, blush oyster” hued shift dress underneath. The dress had a high neckline, though simple with sheer panels at the neckline. Both coat and dress were designed by British couture designer Suzannah Crabb, who also styled Pippa’s 5’9” frame from head to toe.
Crabb, 40, was described in 2011 by the Daily Mail UK as Pippa’s “secret weapon.” The party-planning socialite has stepped out in creations by Suzannah in the past — her most memorable look by the designer prior to the christening being an emerald silk crepe dress which she wore to a wedding in Sept. 2011. “She phones first but just turns up on her own,” said Crabb, who has felt the positive effects of the “Pippa Middleton Effect.”
On her feet were blush-colored shoes by Emmy. The younger Middleton sister — who made waves over two years ago in a booty-enhancing bridesmaid’s dress by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen at the Royal Wedding — topped her look with a beaded fascinator by British milliner Edwina Ibbotson.
According to Crabb, the curating of Pippa’s christening outfit required hours of research. She says, “The outfit had to be both beautiful and appropriate from the length of the hem, to the style of the millinery and the subtle color and cut.” A similar style dress was worn by Sweden’s Princess Victoria to the christening of her daughter Princess Estelle in 2012.
Her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge, also opted for a cream-colored outfit to mark the special moment for her son with Prince William.
