Quvenzhané Wallis may just be the world's most successful 10-year-old.
The 12 Years a Slave actress was just named the face of Armani Junior, making her one of the youngest celebrities to model for a luxury brand. Wallis already holds the title of the youngest nominee for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in Beasts of the Southern Wild.
It was announced on Thursday, May 22, that Wallis will represent Giorgio Armani's junior line in a series of advertisements promoting the brand's Autumn/Winter 2014-15 collection.
"Quvenzhané is so talented despite her young age," the designer said in a release. "She is a child who has the natural ability to play many different roles. Her kindness, curiosity and openness towards others really struck me, as they are all traits that I admire. It is for this very reason that I wanted her to be a the face of Armani Junior. With her insatiable energy, Quvenzhané made the clothing come alive, interpreting it in her own singular way."
Wallis chimed in, "I'm so happy to be chosen by Mr. Armani to be his ambassador for Armani Junior. I felt the same excitement when I got cast for a major film. Me? Wow!"
She has traded in her puppy purse for a real-life pup and a little bit of Armani for the first-look photo.
Wallis is dressed in an immaculately fitted black suit with a peplum hem on the jacket. Under the blazer, she wears a white collared shirt. The formal look is accessorized with dark stockings and black flats adorned with a bow.
This isn't the first time that the Annie star has worn Armani. She chose a dark blue gown from the designer for the 2013 Academy Awards.
"I was honored to wear his custom gown to the Oscars," Wallis continued. "It made me feel like a princess. When I saw Mr. Armani's Privé show in New York, the dresses were so pretty... I had too many favorites! Afterwards when I met him, I realized Mr. Armani is such a nice man. I liked that he was so thoughtful. It's fun now to wear Armani Junior since I really like the clothing. It's young. It's cool. My friends are going to want to borrow all my clothes now, for sure."
