Body shamers be gone! Selena Gomez has no time for online haters. Her latest album, Revival, which drops today, is a testament of her empowerment, and to prove she doesn't care what people say about her, she performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a sexy bra and white-hot pantsuit, all while spreading a positive message.
The Disney alum stuck it to Internet trolls by singing "Same Old Love" in a matching white blazer and trousers by Elie Saab, without a shirt in a black bralette. She rocked the revealing look, showing off her toned abs.
In the interview portion of the show, Gomez told host Ellen DeGeneres that she's rising above the hate she's received online. "It was the first time I'd ever been called fat… it was weird because it's not just 'Oh, she's fat.' It's like, 'She's a mess. She's gone off the deep end.' I'm like, because I'm on a vacation wearing a bathing suit? Actually technically that is a little too small for me, but I didn't care," she told DeGeneres of the April vacation photos that sparked the drama. "That's so degrading."
At the time, Selena struck out against the people who called out her curves. "Look, I didn't want them to win. It's so annoying when I see it all over the place and everybody thinks they can bring me down. So my immediate response was I'm gonna post a picture and I’m like, 'I’m happy with me y'all'… I wasn’t gonna let that be the story. That wasn’t the story."
Gomez's message while promoting Revival has been all about changing the narrative that surrounds her. In an interview with Billboard, she revealed that she's been battling Lupus. "[It happened] three years ago… That's when I found it and I think it was just very complicated because I didn’t understand and then it was something that I did want to keep private until my whole life suddenly wasn’t private," she told DeGeneres.
Having the autoimmune disease is something she's had to come to terms with. "You’ll have it forever. It’s kind of one of those situations. You just have to take care of yourself," she said, while assuring the audience that she's healthy at the moment.
In true DeGeneres form, the host then lightened the mood, scaring Gomez with two separate characters, "Taylor Swift," and Elsa from Frozen. Watch the video above for the entire interview!
