Simply stunning! Nearly eight months after giving birth to baby Sasha, Shakira is back on the scene, advocating for children as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador (and looking incredibly slim to boot!).
The “Can’t Remember to Forget You” crooner, 38, attended a press conference following the Meeting of the Minds: Investing in Early Childhood Development at the United Nations in NYC on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
Stepping up to the speakers’ table, the Colombian recording artist, who’s been a Goodwill Ambassador since 2003, donned a breezy little black dress with a scoop neck, which she teamed with matching platform pumps.
Shakira, who shares Sasha, 7 months, and Milan, 2, with longtime love Gerard Pique, gave an impassioned speech about the importance of education. “More than 100 million children are out of school, and 159 million boys and girls under 5 are physically and cognitively stunted due to a lack of care and proper nutrition,” she began.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer added, “Every year that passes without us making significant investment in early childhood development and initiatives that address these issues, millions of kids will be born into the same cycle of poverty and lack of opportunity. UNICEF and I have joined forces and are here today because investing early in children is an urgent matter and there isn’t another moment to lose.”
