On Monday night, the A-list came out in droves to celebrate NYC's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute's annual gala, this year honoring the fashion of American women. My blog this week will be devoted to my picks for the best and brightest -- there were almost too many to include!
Most hair was up (though a few let their mane hang loose -- like Demi Moore) but there were all different styles of updos, some sleek, some undone and sexy. My fave look was Jennifer Lopez, who sparkled in a champagne jewel-encrusted gown.
To do J.Lo's look, stylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon applied volumizing spray to the star's hair, then set on Velcro rollers. He finished the look by parting in the center, then twisting the back up into a low chignon and pinning. His trick: Purposefully leave a few strands out of the rollers for a messy, sexy effect. "The undone look of the hair is the perfect complement to the intricate beading of the gown," Juan Carlos tells UsMagazine.com.
