Brittany Murphy Looked Emaciated at Last Public Appearance

Monday – December 21, 2009 – 8:38am

Two weeks before her shocking Dec. 20 death, Brittany Murphy appeared skinnier than ever.

Wearing a short black dress by designer pal Tiffany Saidnia, the actress looked emaciated as she walked the red carpet Dec. 3 for the opening of Tt Collection's Pop-Up shop in Los Angeles. One online blogger wrote that her dress "hung to her skin and bones frame."

Look back at Brittany Murphy's talented life

Despite her disturbing appearance, Murphy appeared to be in good spirits. "I've been very blessed to have a really great loving husband," she told Access Hollywood, referring to director Simon Monjack, whom she wed in 2007. "I spend more time with my family than anyone else in the world."

She also revealed her goal for 2010. "As far as having a New Year's resolution, I'd love to have a child next year," she said. "But that's kind of a large one!"

She also turned heads Dec. 1 at the L.A. premiere of indie film Across the Hall, which she shot in 2008.

Her red carpet appearances came shortly after Murphy stopped working on a film in Puerto Rico.

Internet reports claimed that she was fired, but her rep denied the rumors, saying, "She was not nor has she ever been fired from any job big or small ... [Due] to creative differences Ms. Murphy and the production mutually parted ways."

How is her look any different than that of the mutant, Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham?! You know, the one that was just on the most popular show on TV-American Idol-flaunting that bizarre, freakishly narrow frame, that is almost identical to Ms Murphys. Shes a semi-attractive oddity at best. I thought the freaks on the show were the guests. Lets hope Ms Beckham does not suffer any ill effects from a 'diet' similar to that of Ms Murphy.

How can a woman in Hollywood THINK straight when agents, producers, directors, and casting people say anything bigger than size 0 is too big, and the media, the fans, and your friends, say that Beyonce is normal? There's a double standard that makes no sense and confuses the women out there who don't see themselves through their own eyes only. This poor girl's career was down and she had to be more desperate to revive it, which means PLEASING more by being thinner, more made-up, dressed better, etc... Just that kind of stress is enough to give anybody a heart attack!

She looks like she has had a hard life and... I woke up that Sunday morning just two days into my own withdrawals and recovery from my Opiate/Norco addiction and to my husband saying "I'm following the News and you know that Brittany Murphy girl, the one you said is a friend of your cousin's?" I got this huge knot in my stomach and replied, "Uh yeah... Omigod, did she die or something?" and when he said yes... I was just in absolute and complete utter shock! Even more shocked into the reality about the effects of the abuse and lethality of opiates (Oxicontin, Vicodin, Norco, Morphine and the list goes on). That could have been me I thought and broke down... Sadly, I was diagnosed with a dehabilitating disease after nearly dying in a hospital from being septic w/infection. After many months of ER visits and unable to manage my pain/symptoms I finally received a rather devastating diagnosis but learned that it was some ways manageable. I was prescribed Norco (each one equal to two 500 mg strength vicodin) for pain. Unable to physically and mentally cope with my disease I first took the Norco for pain... than I took it to prevent the pain... and when I did not have pain I would continue to take this prescribed medication every day because of the high and the seemingly numbing feeling it would provide to me; I felt able to cope. It got to the point where I'd run out of my prescript early (unfortunately I had a doctor that would give them to me early or provide me with higher dosage whenever I asked and even deterred me from getting help when I came to her and asked her not to prescribe them to me anymore)... I'd borrow pills from friends, family and buy from other sources and when I would run out, Iâ??d even resort to the use of oxicontin (a very deadly and scary drug). It took me a year to realize what was happening to me (and many nights on very high overdose levels of prescription drugs, forcing myself to breath and honestly afraid to fall asleep or that I might not wake up) and to admit to myself that I â??am an addict and I'm abusing my prescript drugs; drugs nonetheless... less than two months to the day that I admitted to my husband that I had a severe problem (by then everyone in my immediate family had started to take notice and concern), and I asked him to take control my prescription and hand them to me like a child until I reach the courage to seek help through a place that provides help of detox and recovery. That day came sooner than I thought and Iâ??m so happy I made the choice of life and to free myself, and my family from my addiction; just two days before the death of Brittany! This isn't just some thing (disease and addiction) that happens in Hollywood. People (hundreds of thousands, maybe millions?) everywhere are either dying from or becoming addicted to drugs of all kinds everyday even when it's not at first non-intentional (I became a victim of my own genetic disease and in the process acquired an addiction)... It can happen to anyone and it hurts everyone! I wish Brittany could have saved herself! All I know is that she died at the age of 32 from â??Cardiac Arrestâ?? and that's NOT NATURAL... She obviously died of something disease related, whether it is the drug addiction disease, eating disorder disease, genetic disease; or combination of the three. So very sad, may she rest in peace and that her family finds peace! If you are a person reading this that may think that they may have any drug or disease related addiction or a eating disorder please be strong enough to seek help, and don't live another day in your battle in fear that you may not wake up to see tomorrow... YOU ARE NOT ALONE! There are so many caring and understanding people in recovery clinics or your primary healthcare that can help get you through, and help you to overcome your disease/addiction. I ask that you put your pride and any embarrassments aside and GET HELP NOW AND NOT PUT IT OFF TO LATER... Brittany ran out of time (she will be missed...), you do not have to do the same...

I'm sorry but she looks sickly thin. Does anyone see that her head is bigger than the part of her body below her hand? Thanks Hollywood! You've destroyed another life, indirectly. Why do you ask young starlets to be skinny at the cost of their health? WHY???????????????????? You should all be guilty. Brittany would still be here if someone did not criticize her weight. SHAME ON YOU ALL! At 32, she should still be here. This is beyond tragic. And nobody helped her. So sad.

Oh wow! Look at her! WTF? The pressure to be thin in Hollywood has to change, seriously. Also the Chi-Tribune and others sources states that Brit became increasingly worried that she was no longer an A-List celeb and that her career was sinking; Hollywood producers believed her husband was destroying her career with past and antics. Sources say, days before Brit passed she was feeling very ill and vomiting constantly. Why did anyone of her relatives take her to the ER? Her fam wasn't looking out for because just looking at this pic how could they not see there was a problem. Now a talented actress has died at a young age. She seemed like a good person. R.I.P.

Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Tori Spelling take note. When you don't eat, your heart stops. And I don't mean eat an egg white omlette and a dry salad. Go ahead and have some dairy and meat. Really, IT won't kill you. Starving yourself will.

Yep, she's looking a bit thin..but until the autopsy results are back...who knows..It's rare not to be able to determine a cause of death...she died for a reason and it may take a month or so but it will be released.

Fake boobs, fake noses, eyes and whole faces. Fake tans, fake hair, fake nails. Then they get all arrogant & superior like they're really beautiful and some sort of special person. Hollywood is a land of psychos.

I don't understand who decided the skin and bones look is more attractive? I live in a college town and often see these young girls who look like walking sticks and it isn't pretty. Thinner isn't more attractive and people who are emaciated just looked starved down. I say women should revolt against that Hollywood standard and magazines should stop publishing gaunt models. It is just unhealthy, period!
