Mackenzie Phillips Returning to Oprah — With Half Sister Chynna

Thursday – September 24, 2009 – 2:25pm

Mackenzie Phillips — who has admitted to having a decade-long sexual relationship with her father, 60s musician John Phillips — is returning to The Oprah Winfrey how.

Joining her?

Her half-sister Chynna.

Mackenzie will appear via satellite on Friday; Chynna will be live in the studio, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

Still no word on whether the two will interact.

On Wednesday's show, Mackenzie opened up about her affair with her father. She said she became pregnant and didn't know who had fathered the child. So she had an abortion, which her father paid for, "and I never let him touch me again."

In the new Us Weekly (on newsstands now), Chynna gives her side of her sister's sad story.

She says the news sent her into "a deep, deep sadness and depression for about 10 days. A part of me died when I found out."

This what Roman Polanski did and didn't think it was a problem.

Sorry to run this into the ground. This story is the tip of the iceberg. My mother and her sisters lived with the same situation. My exwife was molested by her adoptive father brother and neighbor. My sister was incested by my father who in turn past it onto me. We can white wash this or stop it. A lot of the negative reactions are perhaps from people who don't want to admit be touched by this or are worried about a friend who is. We should face it and make people stop and get help. I'am 48 and my life was ruined by it.

The father groomed the child for sex then at a older age (so he could justify it) he raped her. I think she was developmentally disabled. This means emotionally held back by the actions of her father. She proably had the emotional capacity of a 11 year old for a long time. This includes her choices and boundries. She is positively a victim and very brave.

Anonymous Says: “if Oprah had any humanity or decency or kindness, she would have given Miss Phillips some money and counselling and protected her from herself.” How would that have won her higher ratings? Winfrey is the master of chat-show exploitation, more so than Povich, Springer or any of the rest. Why? Because she has managed to publicly give away just enough crumbs to make herself look better than the rest. I think the façade is at long last coming down, but damn it people, twenty plus years to see this woman for what she is? As for poor Mackenzie, let’s hope that she can at last put this mess behind her.

Not sure what went on behind closed doors, and not sure why Mackenzie is bringing this all up now, but it can be hard when the abuser (her father) was alive, if this is indeed the case. The fact that the sisters aren't coming right out to dispute their sister and standing by her says they may not be sure themselves if their father was capable of such monstrosities...and it was probably hapening since Mac was a child. But either way, Mac needs counseling as to why she did begin a relationship w/her father as an adult if it didn't start when she was a child. I agree with other comments - the bio-mom and step-mom should've protected Mackenzie as a child. The fact that she was shot up w/drugs by her own dad, someone she trusted & looked up to, at the age of 11 says there was a lot of crazy stuff going on in that house. Mabye she is speaking out to help other children in this situation while absolving her own guilt for partaking in this unhealthy relationship? Only God knows for sure...

My heart goes out to Mac. Who in the heck are we to judge her or try to determine if it did or did not happen. Has anyone even entertained the thought that maybe this is why she was on drugs for so long. She was using the drugs to hide and mask the pain of such a terrible past. Hopefully with her finally coming clean about her past will be the key to FINALLY setting her free from drugs for the rest of her life. She can finally live with a little bit of peace in her life with the release of her demons.

The Oprah Winfrey Show is now just one step away from doing paternity tests for trailer trash and ghetto girls. there was no public good served by this. It's enabling behavior for an addict. She needed to talk about this but she didn't need to tell the whole world about it and if Oprah had any humanity or decency or kindness, she would have given Miss Phillips some money and counselling and protected her from herself. Miss Winfrey can rationalize her part in this... those are the same voices of rationalization that keep leading her to abuse herself with food. She's a disgrace.

What on earth happened that her own mother left her in that situation? Even without knowing about the incest, she had to have known it was not a healthy environment for a kid. That's child neglect. Where is Suzy Adams (aka Suzy January)now?
  • September 25, 2009 - 8:13am HER SON NEEDS TO GET A DNA TEST Says:

When her son was born, 1987, Mackenzie was meeting up with her own father in order to bang him. Her son could be Mackenzie's and John Phillip's "love child." Since, Mackenzie was 29 years old and asking for her father to unzip his pants, she should have kept her mouth shut. Now, NO ONE can listen to the Mama's and Papa's without thinking of father/daughter enjoying hot sex. GROSS !!!!

I feed sad her her if it did happen and if it didn't, I still feel sad for her. Truth or not, she got a raw deal being born into that family.
  • September 24, 2009 - 11:38pm Ann Says:

I'm sure her father violated her WAY before 19 years-old. It is almost as if she can't come out and tell the whole truth because she must feel guilty about her part. Even though she was victimized she probably has the need to protect her father. Mackenzie seems to have one of the most serous forms of Stockholm Syndrome. Mackenzie sympathizes with her father because he was an extremely bad man and instead of hating him she actually feels sorry for him. It happens; Mackenzie is not the only person on this Earth guilty of falling victim to a sick-minded person and then feeling sorry for them. Drugs only fueled the fire her and her father were in. Moreover, it seems as if the drugs allowed her to accept what her father was doing. Because had she been lucid 100% of the time she would have either been dead by now or killed him.
  • September 24, 2009 - 11:24pm Anonymous Says:

Why are people so convinced that Mackenzie is either lying or happily partook in the abuse/rape by her father? No one is to say whether or not this stuff happened. However, it is an extremely embarrassing admission and I highly doubt Mackenzie is making it up. Anyone saying that Mackenzie is lying or voluntarily had this inappropriate relationship with her father need to look closer at abuse victims. Most victims don't run away or blow the whistle on their abuser because they have accepted the circumstances and their will is completely broken.
  • September 24, 2009 - 10:56pm No one would be blaming Mackenzie if she would have kept this a secret Says:

If John Phillips raped Mackenzie and that was the end of it, I don't think there would be this back lash. What she's saying is that she willingly had sex with her father - through of her 2 marriages and when he was married to others. Do you know HER SON WAS BORN IN 1987 - SHE WAS MEETING HER DAD, JOHN PHILLIPS DURING THIS TIME TO HAVE SEX WITH HIM. Her son could be Pappa Johns. Now we can never listen to Mama's and Pappa's again.
  • September 24, 2009 - 10:30pm Anonymous Says:

The only reason Michelle Phillips is saying it's not true is because she was married to the guy during this disgusting abuse. She was a drug addict just like her husband. Shame on her for not protecting a child.
  • September 24, 2009 - 10:21pm kfccanada Says:

In reference to Mackenzie's comment about waking up on the night before her wedding to find her father on top of her, and the fact that she didn't know if that had been the very first time for said seduction, IMHO, I strongly suspect that he had been compromising his daughter since the very first time he shot her up with cocaine at the age of 11 years. Yep, my gut feeling says that it's more than plausible. If he took advantage of her when she was passed out at the age of 19 ( and on the eve of her wedding) then, he most likely had been doing so all those years. Disgusting? Yes....but totally heartbreaking to think everyone is blaming Mackenzie.
