For the first time since her Maltipoo Daisy was taken from her, Jessica Simpson speaks publicly about the loss of her pet.

"Daisy meant the world to me," the star, 29, told Usmagazine.com at the FFANY Shoes on Sale QVC event in NYC Tuesday. "I hold her memory very, very close. It was an unfortunate thing what happened. That I don't have her every day... It's a very hard thing to talk about."

Daisy, the five-year-old dog who was a gift from ex-husband Nick Lachey, was dragged away by a coyote in her Los Angeles backyard in September. After a week of searching -- which included hanging posters that offered a reward and enlisting professional pet finders FindToto.com -- Daisy was never recovered.

Simpson still is unsure if she will get a new dog.

"I haven't really thought about another dog yet, but maybe sometime," she told Us. "[Daisy] would want that."

On Sunday, the star Twittered that she didn't appreciate pranksters sharing false information about Daisy with her loved ones.

"People who have been contacting my family and friends saying that Daisy has been found," she posted. "Untrue. People are so cruel... please respect her memory."

I really don't care for JS, but I know how painful it is to lose a family member - pet, or otherwise. These are real emotions and she should be offered sympathy, not criticism, for this sad situation. I agree that she should get her next dog from the animal shelter or a rescue group. May time ease her pain.

I don't care for this chick, but losing a pet is very heartbreaking. She obviously loved Daisy, and she wasn't just arm candy like some celebs with their animals (you notice I don't say pets in their circumstance). I'm pretty sure she didn't arrange for a coyote to grab Daisy just to get a little media attention. Wild animals...well, they're unpredictable, and leash or no, they're strong. It may have gotten Daisy anyway for those of you who call her irresponsible for no leash. SH** happens with wild animals and who's to say that anything other than keeping her in a cage would have stopped it? And what dog wants to spend time in a cage? Give her a break...having dogs of my own, that dog must have been her "baby", and I'm sure she's second guessing herself without your help, haters. Wouldn't you?

Ok I'm no JS fan, but I can understand her pain. Anyone who has lost a pet, through any means, knows that kind of pain. Especially one that is such a close family member. She needs to give herself time to mourn her loss, and it will take time however long that might be, and eventually another pet WILL help the grieving process. It took me a year before I could look at another dog let alone get one. As for the publicity angle - that's bogus - people grieve differently and if these losers are really claiming to see an "alive" Daisy that's plain ignorant and cruel. Let her be. She's not harming anyone.
