Martha Stewart Apologizes to Jessica Simpson for Dog Remark

Thursday – September 24, 2009 – 5:37pm

Martha Stewart has apologized to Jessica Simpson for saying she should have watched her Malitpoo Daisy more closely after the dog was dragged away by a coyote in Los Angeles last week.

At Us Weekly's 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers bash Sept. 15, Stewart, 68, scolded Simpson, 29, calling the incident was "pretty sad." She said Simpson "should have been more careful" and also advised the singer to "get another dog."

But in a segment on her daytime program, The Martha Stewart Show, Stewart changed her tune.

"I said that she should have been watching her dog more closely, but I feel very, very sorry for anybody that loses a pet," she said Thursday. "Jessica, I hope you find your pet, but if you don't, I'm really sorry that you lost one."

So sorry, Jess -- I feel your pain -- I've lost dearly beloved pets as well -- and it's never easy. Hold on to your precious memories for awhile, but definitely give another animal a chance for your love and affection. God Bless.

Martha said nothing wrong. Jessica is the one that needs to apologize to the citizens of Uganda. In that twitter/reality show low budget promo, she mocked their desperate attempts to prevent the spread of a deadly illness. Jessica Simpson is disgusting.

Martha was wrong. Was Jessica supposed to fight a coyote? By the way, this does not sound like an apology to me.

First of all....I am so sorry for Jessica's loss. The loss of a beloved pet is heart wrenching. I have been in her position before & know how badly it hurts. That dog was with her all the time..she was her best friend. You can't just go out & replace it like a pair of shoes. It was very insensitive of Martha to make it seem like Jessica's loss was not important. I still get a lump in my throat when I hear about the loss of Daisy. Just wanted to let you know that you have a supporter Jessica! I am sorry for your loss & hope in time you can find another companion that will bring you happiness like Daisy did.

What Martha said was nothing compared to Jessica's twitter from Uganda-- "WTF?!? "Do I really have to sleep like this?" complete with a picture of her making what she thought was an "adorable" pouty face surrounded by a life saving mosquito net that people from that country would be grateful to have. The one who needs to apologize is Jessica Simpson. Her self-centeredness made her so blind to the very real human suffering around her that she tried to use the fight against a sickness that kills as her next "is this tuna or chicken" moment to promote her lame reality show. She was beyond insensitive to people fighting for their lives...she was heartless.

It's so sickening how everyone has to apologize for everything they've said these days.

After all the pictures of Jessica in public drunk the past year or so, isn't it possible she wasn't sober the night of the attack and too drunk to protect the dog?
  • September 25, 2009 - 5:37pm Anonymous Says:

She didn't really apologize because she didn't say anything wrong. What Martha said was the truth. Nothing wrong with the truth.

just like Kayne this apology was a response to the anger over what was said. a pr move, not a true apology.

I think Martha is right. She said what I was thinking. IF you live in an area where there are such threats to your pets, you do need to take care. Your pet is a responsibility. Around this part of the world, you can search the local news websites to find out what is going on outside before you take your dog for a walk. Even the local TV news let us know if there are coyote threats or any other large predators in neighborhoods. Humans have encroached on wildlife areas. Wildlife like coyotes get sick or older and will prey on dogs and cats. Just have to be a responsible pet owner and stay informed. Walking around in a bubble will only hurt your pet.

It wasn't like Jessica let her door open and let Daisy run around outside unsupervised. Coyotes are predators and I read it was grabbed right in front of her. That must have been devastating to see. And she certainly didn't need an uppity opinionated bitch like Martha telling her she should have made sure the door was closed. I thought that was an absolutely disgusting thing to say to someone that has just witnessed their beloved dog killed. She is a very unfeeling person to say such a thing.

I just hope the animal didn't suffer. I feel so sorry for Jessica and a lot of people would think why didn't she watch the dog better but it happened so fast and who knew coyotes were near her yard. Sometimes celebrities should keep their opinions to themselves and this is certainly the case for Martha.

I didn't like Martha's comment. She is not a wise caring woman. Luv ya Jessica!!
