Michael Lohan: I Can't Even Look at Lindsay Anymore

On Friday's Maury Povich Show, Michael Lohan reaches out to his daughter Lindsay, of whom he claims her health is deteriorating rapidly due to prescription drug abuse.
"There's nothing left of her," he said. "I was out in L.A. with her about three weeks ago when she got robbed. She called me up at 3:30 a.m. and said, 'Daddy, come out here.' I flew out and couldn't even look at her. I had to go outside and cry. When I hugged her, it's just a hollow, hollow person.

Asked what he wants to tell his daughter, Michael (with tears in his eyes) looked into the camera and said: "Lindsay, I love you with all my heart and ... I am not going to bury you. You're going to bury me before this is over. I will do anything and everything I have to to save your life. Whether mom likes it, or the public likes it or anyone, I am going to take all the steps I can to help you because I want you to have your life back. You're not in the right state of mind. You're my daughter, honey, and I can do this anymore."

Lindsay, 23, went to Beverly Hills court Friday to give progress on her 2007 drunk driving case. (The actress, who was arrested for driving under the influence, agreed to a plea bargain that called for probation, time in a treatment program and community service after she crashed her car on Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills.)
At a hearing in Beverly Hills Friday, a judge added an extra year on Lohan's existing three-year probation sentence after she showed up more than an hour-and-a-half late.

On Thursday, Usmagazine.com caught up with Lindsay, who said: "Everything is good. I am in a really good place. I've been working a lot. I literally slept the entire day yesterday. I woke up, and it was like 10 o'clock at night. I was like, 'I have stuff to do!'"
Asked about her father's concerns, Lindsay told Us: "I just wish he would shut up."

Michael Lohan also claims that his credentials as a drug counselor give him the authority to run around telling the world that his daughter's a junkie. If he's so knowledgeable about how to help drug addicts, can't he see that he's not helping his daughter and may even be aggravating the problem? Michael Lohan was once on drugs himself and then quit using on his own. The only difference is that Michael Lohan was able to get his life together privately with some dignity because his father didn't distribute press releases, arrange for a series of "exclusive interviews" and then hit the talk show circuit, wringing his hands about how his son was ::cue violins:: hollow inside. Doesn't he have any sympathy for the circumstances in which his daughter lives, with media scrutinizing and reporting on her very obvious downward spiral into drug use? It's obvious that he just wants to burnish some media image of himself as a valiant hero. He is meanwhile alienating himself from his daughter. If he really wanted to get his message across, he would find a way to tell her in private and be there for her as a loving parent rather than as "Lindsay Lohan's Concerned Father." Why are people posting the same thing 3 times? Just chill and wait for the first one to show up :) Lohan is a sh*t father. Any "dad" who can say those things - and PUBLICLY - about his own flesh and bone, i do not care how messed up she is, is just evil. He should love her and not shun her and say ugly things to & about her! How is any of this helping? He had to "go outside and cry"? If he's sad about his kid, he can cry - but he can wait! Way to be a pos, Michael. I grew up with a "man" like you, and i made it anyway. I pray that Lindsay will as well. He needs to shut up about his "faith" too, because a real man of faith would never act like this. -

Hm. I don't trust this guy. He's trying to emulate Daddy Spears and it just doesn't work for him. I have no doubt that Lindsay probably has some sort of problem, but I have a lot of doubt about his motives (especially when he hangs out with losers like Jon Gosselin). -

He's a major tool, but at least one of her parents are facing her problems. It would be better for them if he kept his concerns out of the tabloids, but like I said, he's a major tool. But at least he acknowledges the problem, unlike 'Orange Oprah' who's busy claiming Lindsay's a 'genius'. -
