Exclusive: Rudolph Giuliani to Tiger Woods: "Hang In There"

Wednesday – December 16, 2009 – 12:05pm

Rudolph Giuliani -- who is no stranger to an extramarital affair scandal -- has a message for philandering golfer Tiger Woods.

"Hang in there," he told Usmagazine.com Tuesday at the NYC premiere of Nine.

In 2000, Giuliani's 16-year marriage to Donna Hanover ended very publicly with allegations of two affairs -- one with a former aide, Christyne Lategano, and a second with drug company executive Judith Nathan, whom he later went on to wed.

"He's going through a tough period," Giuliani, 65, told Us of Woods, 33. I know him and at an early stage in my son's career, he was very kind and nice to him. So I know what a nice man Tiger really is, particularly with children. He was extraordinarily generous to my son and my son played golf with him."

About eight years ago, when Giuliani's son Andrew golfed with Woods (father to Sam, 2, and Charlie, 10 months), "Woods showed him how to play and wrote him notes afterwards," the former NYC mayor told Us.

Added Giuliani, "He has a big heart for children. He's a very, very fine man. And people should know the way he treats children." Giuliani told Us his heart goes out the entire Woods family. "We know he's going to get through it," Giuliani told Us.

There are a lot of issues to consider re Tiger -- he was forced to be a "world class" golfer at a very early age, what kind of childhood did he have? Did Elin really love him or the money? There are two sides to every story. She doesn't seem too upset. $300 million and counting?

Oh stop slamming Tiger Woods! Cast the first stone! Hes not God ! Dont feel sorry for Elin shes laughing all the way to the bank! He was not caught molesting kids! Get a grip on your own life and gross the billion Tiger has they talk about him!

Rudolph the shame is not about how good Tiger is with kids, it is about how disrespectful he was to his wife and family. He married the Nanny of one of his golfing friends, and it brought her fortune and fame. Now she can lay back in luxury for the rest of her life with the money she will take home to Sweden. Tiger hated to use condoms, and one wonders if it is because none of the brands are big enough. Ha, ha, so he is a black man after all. Try denying it now. There will be news down the line that there are babies to come, and they will be wealthy also once it is proven he is daddy.

Morality should help humans control disease and provide structure. Should we fear morality completely unleashed? Where do we draw the line, are children next, already girls and boys walk the streets in prostution, what is next sex with animals?

To ABUSER IS NEVER RIGHT: Where did you read that Elin abuses her children? How could you know this? Do you know her personally? There has been nothing printed about her abusing her children. CPS visited the house and nothing has been said about her hurting her children. Get the facts before you post a comment like that.

To Mari: You're saying you're "sure" his wife did something to cause all this? How can you say that? No one knows what goes on in a marriage except the 2 people involved. If Tiger wasn't happy at home, if certain things about his wifes' behavior were driving him away he should have had a talk with her and told her. How can you place the blame on her like that by saying she caused all this? She is the victim in this and you're blaming the victim. Tiger should never have gotten married in the first place. He obviously enjoys the single life and running around with a lot of women. There's nothing wrong with that, providing you're single. He acted dishonorably. Period. Don't blame his wife for his behavior. It's not like they were incompatible, and he met another woman, ONE other woman, and fell in love with her. That does happen and when it does, the right thing to do is come clean and tell your spouse and file for divorce. It's hurtful, yes, and devastating and it does cause a scandal. However, it's not the same as running around with a bunch of women like he did. There have been instances when that's happened to a couple, they divoce, and they move on with their lives. That's not what Tiger did. He wanted to stay married for his image and run around with many woman at the same time.

Giuliana is acting like something bad happened to Tiger and he has to overcome it. Tiger is the one whose behavior got him into this mess. He may be good with children, but he certainly wasn't good to his wife. Giuliana says he's "a fine man." No---he's not. A "fine man" doesn't disprespect his wife and his marriage like that.
  • December 18, 2009 - 11:02am Nicole Says:

Sorry, Rudy, but a fine man does not behave like Tiger does. Then again, what would Rudy Giuliani know about being a fine man - nothing at all.
  • December 18, 2009 - 1:03am Casey Says:

Who the hell would want to take marriage advice from Rudy Guliani? His own kids don't even like him.
  • December 17, 2009 - 9:22pm rm2h Says:

Tiger do not listen to him. Every single marriage that he has had has ended due his infidelity. He is the worst role model for you to follow. He and Antonio R. Villaraigosa (Mayor of Los Angeles CA) plus all the politians who think that the marriage laws do not apply to them are the most selfish people who hurt their wives (especially when they marry the mistress).

  • December 17, 2009 - 12:30pm mari Says:

why can this between him and his wife? people please stop the insanity!!! i am sure she( his wife) did something to cause all this. there is always 2 sides to the story.

Ahh, how comforting that guiliani supports tiger. Perhaps he can also give advice on how to marry one of the tramps and still be able to run for president? And of course, give some great advice on how to win that election. Guiliani is an ignorant, overly hormoned, old, creepy fool. I can not think of anything that Joff could say that I would ever consider taking seriously.
