Troopers to Attempt Third Interview with Tiger Woods and Wife

Sunday – November 29, 2009 – 11:02am

Third time's a charm? Florida Highway Patrol troopers hope to speak with Tiger Woods and wife Elin Nordegren at their Orlando, Fla.-area home Sunday about the minor car accident outside their Florida that left Woods with facial lacerations. The couple turned the troopers away on both Friday and Saturday, WFTV.com reports.

Although they are not required by law to discuss the incident, the couple's reluctance to talk fuels ongoing speculation that a heated argument -- regarding a National Enquirer story claiming Woods' affair with Rachel Uchitel -- played a role in Woods' injuries.

While pulling his 2009 Cadillac SUV out of his driveway, Woods hit a fire hydrant and then slammed into a tree around 2:25 a.m.

Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor says that Nordegren used a golf club to smash the back window and free Woods from the vehicle. "According to officers, she was very upset and frantic," Saylor tells WFTV. When troopers arrived on the scene, Woods was reportedly going in an out of consciousness but was quickly stabilized.

Will Tiger and Elin make it? Look back on these ugly star splits

As yet unanswered: where Woods was headed at 2:30 in the morning; alcohol has already been ruled out as a mitigating factor. Woods was sober, and no alcohol was found on the scene.

Saylor and his team did not receive any word of an argument between Woods and Nordegren.

"Right now we believe this is a traffic crash. We don't believe it is domestic issue," patrol spokesman Sgt. Kim Montes told WHTV.com.

On Saturday, Usmagazine.com spoke to Nordegren's mother, Barbro Holmberg, who briefly addressed news of her son-in-law's affair with Uchitel. "You seem to know more than enough already," she told Us. "There is enough for them to handle already. Please can you give everyone space."

As for Nordegren's supposed role in Woods' Friday injuries? "This is gossip," she said.

Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated is an offence no matter if on private property. Tiger should release his hospital records or the FHP should supena them. Any ordinary citizen would have to comply with FHP requests. Whether he beats or cheats on his trophy wife is speculation. If she is stupid enough to put up with it then she deserves what she gets.

Man people love to hate! People love to turn on their "idols"; the press loves to knock down what they themselves build up. He hit a hydrant, got a ticket, end of story. Why speak to the police and have every word "leaked" to the press. Bottom line, he got a ticket, leave him alone. No domestic issue or cheating issue or drugs or alcohol issue. Just a car crash. Why try to make it more than it is????

It is amazing to me that Tiger Woods can keep the police from interviewing him. They should insist...or get a warrant. This should be investigated. His wife is guilty of assault and battery, and they are trying to cover up.

if he has nothing to hide why is he avoiding the police so much over a supposed 'traffic accident"? normal people do not do that! it is so obvious he is hiding something and it is insulting to the public and his fans he thinks anyone believes that bs

people get the story straight. TIGER DID NOT BEAT HIS WIFE!!!!!! Now people r being ignorant and comparing him to OJ and all he did was run into a hydrant and tree. She is the 1 supposedly with the golf club not him. He did the right thing by trying to get out...He could have stayed there and beat the crap out of her (self defense) She had a weapon!! but he did the right thing finally and tried to leave. SMDH

As I read some of the comments posted, I say to myself, I share the world w/these people. Apparently, some of you commented on a story you did not read. It states in the article, they do not have to talk to authorities? So theres no above the law or cover up, its they just dont want to talk and they dont have too.

The cover up is always worst than the truth. To let the speculation continue and grow can only hurt his image.

3;14pm; you are 100% correct. Physical abuse by male or female should be treated the same. PLEASE! golf club in hand; she got upset and hit him and he ran from house, jumped in his SUV and was slipping in and out and she clubed the windows in the SUV; nothing worse than a woman scorned. Not that i beleive he should get by with having a side piece either, but she just take him to the cleaners instead of trying to club him with his club.

Tiger Wood still refuses to see the police because he is hiding something. He made a statement on his website saying "My Bad." In other words, he is telling the police "F" you. Must be nice to be above the law.

No alcohol or drug test? Give me a break! The Tiger brand is tarnished for good! You are right Tiger this is a private matter, but who is going to hire you as their pitchman now?
  • November 29, 2009 - 3:43pm Uncle Tom Says:

That wife looks like a hooker to me. I think Tiger is violent and selfish as OJ. His wife looks like a hooker, and he beat her up. Scorned by his affair with another hooker-looking broad, plus Tiger beating Elin up, Elin chased Tiger out with the golf club. Stay on the story media. These violent men like Tiger and OJ should not get away with beating these white women. In OJ's case, the media ignored Nicole's beatings and OJ killed her! Good work media!
  • November 29, 2009 - 3:35pm Kit Says:

They're not required by law to speak to the police officers. If I were them, I wouldn't speak to the officers either....what is put in the report will become public record in a matter of hours or days. Why would they want their business splashed across every tabloid?

  • November 29, 2009 - 3:18pm Linda Says:

He had a traffic accident. All that is required is for him to give him DL# and proof of insurance. Other than that, it is the not right of the police to get a story for the masses. I don't think if any citizen of this country who is nobody were in an accident, that it would be anyone's business and you wouldn't think it was the business of the country either. Go investigate your neighbors traffic accidents and see how many of them tell you to MYOB. His mother-in-law says "you seem to know enough already" meaning you think you know it all so go about your business and MYOB. No one was killed and they are not going to charge him for hitting a tree with his own car that he can afford to fix. He'll just buy a new one. When Jon Benet Ramsey was killed, the Ramsey's never agreed to be questioned by the police as apparently was their right. So, who cares anyway? This doesn't affect any of our lives.
