Surprise! Ryan Murphy, the creator of American Horror Story, revealed a tiny-but-big addition to the cast of the fourth season of the FX anthology, Freak Show, on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
"Jessica [Lange] and our newest cast member," Murphy tweeted with a pic of the Horror Story standout and a tiny person who resembles a doll. "Jyoti Amge...the world's smallest woman."
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Amge is the smallest recorded woman with a height of 2 ft, 0.6 inches. Native to Nagpur, India, Amge has a genetic disorder called achondroplasia. In 2009, she was featured in a documentary called Body Shock: Two Foot Tall Teen. The television series tells the stories of outstanding real-life people. She was also featured on a reality TV show in India that is supposedly similar to Big Brother.
AHS also announced this week that diva Patti LaBelle has also joined its Freak Show cast. She will play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character. Both actresses appeared in AHS: Coven, which ran earlier this year.
The fourth season of American Horror Story will take place in the town of Jupiter, Fla., in 1950. Emmy winner Lange said last year that she plans to be done with the anthology series after its fourth season. "That'll be it," she told BuzzFeed of her work on the gory thriller series, which included Murder House, Asylum, and Coven.
Murphy, though, joked to The Hollywood Reporter: "Every year, she says, 'OK, that's my last one.'"
American Horror Story: Freak Show will debut on FX in October.
