Bachelorette Andi Dorfman Explains Why She Didn’t Take Chris Soules Into the Fantasy Suite: “It’s a Big Deal”

Season 10 Bachelorette Andi Dorfman explains why she opted not to take Chris Soules into the Fantasy Suite, telling Us Weekly, "It's a big deal to take someone in an overnight"

Andi Dorfman knows better than anyone how crucial the Fantasy Suite dates are to the Bachelor/Bachelorette process. During season 18 of The Bachelor, she spent a "disastrous" night with Juan Pablo Galavis—a night that led to her telling him off the next day and leaving of her own volition before that week's rose ceremony. It's no surprise, then, that she took the dates very seriously going into her stint as the season 10 Bachelorette.

In the episode that aired Monday, July 14, Andi joined a short list of Bachelor/Bachelorette stars who opted to forego an overnight date with a potential husband or wife. Though she took three men with her to the Dominican Republic, only two—Josh Murray and Nick Viall—made it into the Fantasy Suite. The third, Iowa farmer Chris Soules, left with a broken heart during dinner.

"I think it's a big deal to take someone in an overnight, whether or not you do anything," Andi told Us Weekly at the taping of The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All, which airs Monday, July 21, at 8 p.m. on ABC. "Just the act of, like, spending the night with someone should mean something, and I think you should feel like you have a future with somebody if you're willing to spend the night with them. And as soon as I realized that there wasn't that future with Chris, I think that was the appropriate time to go."

Which is not to say that sending him home wasn't difficult. "Looking back, I do think I made the right decision," she told Us. "It wasn't easy at the time, and I think you saw the emotions associated with that decision, but I think it was the right call."

There were indeed a lot of emotions on Monday's episode. Andi openly sobbed as she told Chris she wasn't in love with him and didn't want to lead him on. "I don't think it's fair to make you sit here for days and wait for a rose ceremony," she said through her tears. "I just think I'd rather be honest with you and tell you that I'm trying and I'm trying but it's not there."

"It" apparently was there with Nick and Josh, though. A source tells Us Weekly that Andi got intimate with both of her two finalists. "It was very nice for both of them before, during, and after," the insider says, noting that there were no Juan Pablo-esque surprises. "It's never really that dramatic."
