Spears was 16 years old when her debut single was released on Sept. 30, 1998. The all new Mickey Mouse Club alum quickly became an international pop sensation, especially following the release of her song’s music video, which featured her in a scantily-clad Catholic schoolgirl-inspired outfit. (Fun fact: Spears’ cousin Chad Spears, who was an Abercrombie & Fitch model at the time, played her love interest in the video.)
