Fixer Upper's Chip Gaines: Being With My Wife Joanna Is Like 'Dating a Cyborg'

Chip and Joanna Gaines' marriage certainly isn't a Fixer Upper. The HGTV regulars and Fixer Upper stars recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary, so Us Weekly decided to put the rock-solid couple to the test.

Though Chip, 41, asked if the winner was allowed to "taser" the loser, the construction guru is a not-so-secret softie. As the couple played Us' "Newlywed Game," it became clear that goofball Chip was the romantic in the duo while his wife, Joanna, 37, was more of a realist.

So it makes sense that Chip was the first one to say, "I love you."

"And then I said thank you," designer Joanna tells Us.

"Yeah, that's the way cyborgs respond to 'I love you,'" Chip adds. "She said 'thank you' and I was like, 'I am so freaking sick of this,' and I grabbed my basketball and I walked home like a 4-year-old."

Watch the clip to see the sweet way Chip proposed! Fixer Upper airs on HGTV Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
